Mac permissions

When the screen is blank or permission appears again

macOS controls screen capture tightly. If you granted permission but still see a blank source, quit and reopen OurScreen after enabling Screen Recording.

Most common fix:

System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Screen Recording -> turn OurScreen on -> quit and relaunch OurScreen.

Permission checklist

  • Screen Recording: required for display and window capture.
  • Camera: required for camera bubble, presenter camera, and full camera scenes.
  • Microphone: required for voice recording.
  • Accessibility: optional, used for click tracking and auto-zoom from clicks.
  • Relaunch: required by macOS after changing Screen Recording permission.
Activation and payment

Trial, yearly, and founder access

OurScreen uses activation to keep launch access controlled. Paid users receive a license code by email after payment is confirmed.

Access types

  • 15-day trial: best for testing the app before purchase.
  • $25/year: simple yearly access for the core Mac app.
  • $59 Founder Lifetime: limited first 100 users offer for the core Mac app.
  • Support: email support@ourscreen.app for activation or billing help.
FAQ

Common OurScreen questions

Does OurScreen upload my recordings?

No. OurScreen is local-first. Your project files and recordings stay on your Mac unless you choose to upload or share exported files yourself.

Why does macOS ask for Screen Recording permission?

macOS requires explicit permission before any app can capture your screen. After enabling it, quit and reopen OurScreen so macOS applies the change.

Can I record system audio and my microphone?

Yes. OurScreen is designed for screen, system audio, microphone, and camera workflows. Always record a short test before an important video.

Can I draw on another app while recording?

Yes. Use Explain tools to mark the screen when you want to point, circle, highlight, or draw over a page or app during a recording.

Where do I get app updates?

During early launch, use the download link we send you. OurScreen is being prepared for built-in app updates so future updates are easier.
